Palantir Technologies Inc. (NASDAQ: PLTR) Settles Police Suit, No Deal Yet

What happened

Palantir Technologies Inc. (NASDAQ: PLTR) ended its London police contract lawsuit on October 14, but it did not regain the proposed deal. The city's policing office says the initial contract remains refused and a new competitive procurement is under way.

Both sides withdrew their court allegations. London's Mayor's Office for Policing and Crime also said its May refusal was based on procurement governance and value-for-money review, not the company's values or ethics. It said Palantir Technologies Inc. (NASDAQ: PLTR) may compete fairly in the new process alongside other software companies.

The proposed Unified Operational Analytics system would help the Metropolitan Police combine data for operational work. A London Assembly record puts the rejected proposal at £50 million. The Guardian reported a two-year term. The settlement resolves a legal dispute, not the buying decision.

Why it matters

The difference between eligibility and an award matters to investors. The legal obstacle has eased, but no signed replacement contract or attributable new revenue was announced. The company must still persuade the police that its software offers value against rival bids.

Here is the scale if the old proposal were eventually won on the same terms. £50 million over two years is £25 million a year. At the Bank of England's October 15 indicative rate, that is about $33 million. Palantir Technologies Inc. (NASDAQ: PLTR) reported $2.40 billion of government revenue in 2025, making the annualized amount about 1.4% of that historical segment. This is a rough opportunity comparison, not a revenue forecast.

There is a real positive case: the settlement removes a dispute that could have hurt trust with a public buyer. Yet the initial award was not approved, the new process is competitive, and procurement can change scope or price. A clean legal outcome alone does not prove stronger earnings.

What's next

The useful next document is a procurement award notice naming a winner, contract value and term. If Palantir Technologies Inc. (NASDAQ: PLTR) wins, investors can compare the final terms with the old £50 million proposal. If a rival wins or spending is cut, the legal settlement will have delivered no police-contract revenue.

For now, the investment case for government software deployments is neither proved nor broken by this settlement. The bidding result, not the end of litigation, is the financial test.
