Why it matters
OptimistFi's case is that EVTL is a high-risk option on Vertical Aerospace turning aircraft certification progress into funded commercial production before dilution or debt claims absorb the opportunity. This update is mixed because it adds U.S. defence, government and aerospace commercialisation experience, but the filing still describes a board change rather than aircraft progress.
One appointment and two resignations mean a net one-director reduction, based on the board changes disclosed here. The filing also says Mudrick Capital Management L.P. proposed the appointment under its director appointment rights. Vertical says Valo has c.1,500 pre-orders across four continents, including American Airlines, Avolon, Bristow, GOL and Japan Airlines.
That backdrop matters when judging the board refresh. The release stays limited to governance and named directors.

What's next
The board changes take effect on 5 October 2026. After that, investors will watch for signs that the refresh helps Vertical pair board expertise with progress on Valo certification and commercialisation.
If the company shows that progress, the appointment looks more useful. If not, this filing remains a governance update.
